Eco-Bash set for Saturday

First Lady of Houston Kathy Hubbard, along with former First Lady and Port Commissioner Elyse Lanier and Laura Spanjian, Houston's director of sustainability and environment, will host an eco-friendly, clean-up event on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.

The Eco-Bash, being held at the Sabine Promenade along Buffalo Bayou from Sabine to Bagby, is designed to clean-up the trails along Buffalo Bayou east of the Promenade. Volunteers can register for the clean-up at www.houstonservice.org.

Other activities tomorrow include: live music by Lady D and the Zydeco Tornados, food and drink samples provided by local restaurants and sponsors devoted to creating a sustainable environment, eco exhibits to dispense valuable information about topics such as recycling and green homebuilding, a fashion show featuring recycled garments provided by Houston Community College design students and presented by Neal Hamil Models.

Parking will be available in city lots C and H (adjacent to Fonde Recreation Center).
