Fighting Childhood Hunger

A sold out crowd of over 700 local residents dined on the finest cuisine Houston has to offer on Sunday, May 1 at Share Our Strength’s annual Taste of the Nation. The local event had a record year and raised over $130,000 to fight childhood hunger locally and nationally.

The area’s top chefs and restaurants prepared food for over 700 attendees at The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa to benefit Share Our Strength®, the nation’s leading organization working to end childhood hunger in America by 2015.

Attendees enjoyed masterful creations from 50 of the area’s top chefs such as Robert Del Grande of RDG Bar Annie and Mark Cox of Mark’s American, sipped the finest beer, wine and spirits, and bid in silent auctions featuring a variety of fabulous packages. The evening’s highlights included a Wine Toss and exclusive VIP Lounge.

With nearly 17 million children facing hunger in America (that’s almost one in four), funds raised at Share Our Strength’s Taste of the Nation are even more vital. Share Our Strength works to end childhood hunger in America by connecting children with the nutritious food they need to lead healthy, active lives.

Funds raised through Taste of the Nation events support No Kid Hungry,™ Share Our Strength’s campaign to end childhood hunger in America. Local beneficiaries include The Houston Food Bank and Kids’ Meals. One hundred percent of ticket sales supports Share Our Strength’s efforts to end childhood hunger.
