Expansion begins for Sally's House

The Salvation Army Greater Houston Area Command broke ground yesterday for the expansion of Sally’s House , 1717 Congress, in downtown Houston.

The existing Sally’s House transitional living facility has been providing rehabilitation services to Houston’s underserved female homeless population since 1999. Last year it began accepting transient homeless women, as well for short-term shelter services, for the first time.

Since inaugurating this new program, Sally’s House has provided refuge to over 1,800 local women with nowhere to stay at night. When completed by the end of this year, this new expansion will allow Sally’s House to more than double its daily service capacity for local transient homeless women.
