EVENT Children's Museum to hold Friends and Families Luncheon March 27

The Children’s Museum of Houston and Event Chairs ABC 13 Anchor Gina Gaston Elie and Dr. Kelli Cohen Fein will welcome New York Times bestselling author, Dr. Wendy Mogel, to the 2013 Friends and Families Luncheon on March 27 at the River Oaks Country Club. The luncheon runs from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Proceeds will help support the museum’s early childhood and parenting programs, which focus on building parenting skills, providing information on child development and engaging families in the joy of learning together.

An internationally acclaimed clinical psychologist specializing in parenting, Mogel, is a frequent guest on national news programs including The Today Show and CNN and is regularly interviewed by The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post and NPR.She has delivered keynote addresses to audiences of parents, educators, clergy, camp directors and mental health professionals around the world, including recent lectures in China and an upcoming address at the Young Minds conference in Sydney, Australia.

Mogel serves on the scientific advisory board of Parents Magazine and is a research and policy advisor for Challenge Success; a child advocacy program of the Stanford University School of Education. Her latest project is The Blessing of a Skinned Knee, a book which points the way to raising self-reliant, compassionate and ethical children.
