NEWS Woodlands Bar Association receives Star of Achievement Award

The Woodlands Bar Association is proud to announce that the WBA received the Star of Achievement Award from the State Bar of Texas during its annual meeting held June 20-21 in Dallas. WBA President Angela Speight and former WBA Board Member James Stilwell were on hand to accept the award on behalf of the WBA.

The Star of Achievement Award recognizes the work of WBA members on SB 148, legislation that allows first responders and law enforcement to accept pro bono estate planning advice from a program or clinic offered by a local bar association or the State Bar. SB 148 was signed by Gov. Rick Perry on June 14 and will become effective September 1.

The Woodlands Bar Association was founded in 2006 to promote and develop the legal profession in The Woodlands, to provide networking and continuing legal education opportunities for its members, and to provide community service in areas where the members of the Association can use their unique legal skills to provide service to others.
